Government legislation implementing changes to the nation's media laws is being introduced to Parliament.



Cabinet Minister, Anthony Albanese, representing Communications Minister, Senator Stephen Conroy, began tabling six bills in the lower house soon after sittings began.



Senator Conroy has given Parliament a week to pass the measures, which include a public interest test on media mergers, a 50 per cent reduction in television licence fees, and a new public interest media advocate to monitor industry selfregulation.
