new Hitachi 500gb SATA not seen in Bios

Girls Ugg Boots Sale Review, UGG Coupon Code & Promo Code

I foolishly offered to fix my sisters pc after her old HD died. She went and bought a new Hitachi 500gb SATA II drive which I then tried to reinstal xp, which although i'm no expert, i've done many times with no problems.

The thing is the new HD is not seen in the bios. I've tried setting it to IDE and RAID and still it's not there. I know the HD is fine as i've had it running in my own PC with no problems, also i've tried another HD in both the SATA slots on her PC and the bios recognises them so I can rule out any problems with connectors/leads/MB etc.

Now I think the MB needs the via drivers for this HD ugg boots uk which I slipstreamed onto a XP image with nlite (as the PC has no floppy drive!) and then tried to install WIndows, but I get to the part where I can choose which drive to install and there's none there.

I've read that the Hitachi drive comes as 1.5gb sec as standard so I don't think 3.0gb speed is the problem. I've also tried the Hitachi HD tool program and that doesn't see the HD either!

I'm at a loss. The previous HD was SATA and worked fine until it died.

The options I have next are to install an old floppy drive and try and install the via raid and SATA drivers in the ugg boots sale hope that the bios can then see it. Would this be the solution? Should I consider flashing the motherboard's bios? Which I don't really want to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

>> Re: ASUS A8VE SE, new Hitachi 500gb SATA not seen in Bios

It's difficult for me to list her PC's spec as i'm at work atm, but it's something like this

Athlon 64xp 3500

Asus A8VE SE

2 Gig mem

Nvidia PCI E GFX card (I don't now model)

Just a quick question.

Would installing the VIA raid/Sata drivers during the XP instalation enable the bios to see the HD, because i'm a bit doubtful.

I've got a feeling that the HD is set to 3.0gb trans speed whereas it should be set to 1.5gb as factory default. If this is true then the bios wouldn't recognise it no matter what drivers I install.

Maybe It's worth installing it in my PC and running the Hitachi software to check it's speed?

Recently purchased a Hitachi 750 gb SATA drive and ran into this problem. Hitachi web site states that these drives are default set to use SATA I (150g/s) mode. This is incorrect, they are shipping with the defualt set to SATA II (300g/s) mode. A8VE SE motherboard does not support SATA II and you can not see the drive even in the BIOS.

You have to go to the Hitachi web site, download the drive adjustment of options tool (forget what they call it) Features tool?? Then you can make a boot CD of this tool following their instructions (some may need help with this).

Then you have to go to a PC that can talk SATA II mode, boot the machine from the CD and use the tool to set the default of your new drive to SATA I mode.

I have sent Hitachi email suggesting they correct the web statement that these drives are set to default to SATA I as it can (and did) misled people badly..
